eNaTIS, NaTIS and the RTMC
Three names, one system, and which website is real
NaTIS is the register, eNaTIS is what it has been called since 2007, and the RTMC is the corporation that runs it. Everything the government offers online lives at three addresses. Everyone else, us included, is a private company.
EasyNatis is a private service. We are not NaTIS, eNaTIS or the RTMC. We do the NaTIS part of your licence disc renewal for you.

Three names, one system
The names are a timeline, not three different things.
- 1990s
NaTIS
The National Traffic Information System: the register that records and enforces the National Road Traffic Act for every vehicle, driver and licence in South Africa.
- April 2007
eNaTIS
The electronic system that replaced the ageing NaTIS, built to take internet transactions. The name stuck: people, municipalities and the press still say eNaTIS and NaTIS for the same thing.
- 2017
The RTMC takes over
The Road Traffic Management Corporation, a public entity under the Department of Transport, took the running of eNaTIS over from the contractor that had built it, and runs NaTIS Online today.
How to tell a lookalike from the government
Private sites are allowed to exist, and many are honest. The problem is a site that lets you believe it is the government. These are the signals; they take ten seconds to check.
The government's site
- The address ends in .gov.za, and the part before it is natis: natis.gov.za, online.natis.gov.za or onlinebulk.natis.gov.za.
- You log in with a one-time PIN that the portal sends you; nobody phones to ask you for it.
- Payment happens on the portal itself, by card, after you have logged in and chosen the vehicle.
- The renewed disc comes from the RTMC’s courier with a tracking message, not from a WhatsApp number.
Stop and check
- A .co.za, .com or .org address using the words NaTIS, eNaTIS or RTMC as if it were the government.
- A message, email or advert asking you to send your ID number, card details or a PIN to a WhatsApp number.
- A site that copies the government’s logo, colours or the word "official" without saying who runs it.
- A price with no breakdown: the licence fee, the transaction fee and any delivery or service fee should each be visible.

What a private renewal service is, and what we are
EasyNatis is a private service. We are not NaTIS, eNaTIS or the RTMC. We do the NaTIS part of your licence disc renewal for you.
A registering authority, a bank app, a shop counter and EasyNatis all submit the same renewal to the same register, and the RTMC issues the same disc. A private service is one that does the submitting for you and charges for its trouble. That is lawful, and it is what we do, through a registered agent.
What you should expect from any private service is a plain statement that it is private, a price broken into its parts, and the disc delivered by the RTMC's courier with a tracking message.
Our part of the bill
Your licence fee and NATIS's R72.00 transaction fee go to the government whichever route you take. RTMC's R99.00 delivery is its courier's fee. Our admin fee is R201.00 a year, spread over your monthly payments with everything else.
The licence fee for your province is the only part that changes.

Problems with a vehicle record, an ownership change or a licence that will not renew are fixed at a registering authority, not by the online support line. The government lists them by province: Where to Go (opens the government site in a new tab).
Questions about eNaTIS and the RTMC
Is NaTIS legit?
The government's NaTIS sites are: natis.gov.za, online.natis.gov.za and onlinebulk.natis.gov.za, all ending in .gov.za. Anything else using the name is a private company, which may be perfectly legitimate but is not the government and should say so. EasyNatis is one such private company.
Is eNaTIS offline?
The system does go down nationally from time to time, and when it does every registering authority and NaTIS Online stop together, which municipalities usually announce on their own pages. If only the website fails for you, the cause is more often your network: work firewalls block the portal, so try mobile data.
Is EasyNatis part of NaTIS or the RTMC?
No. EasyNatis is a private company. We submit our customers' licence disc renewals through the same NaTIS channels a registering authority uses, by way of a registered agent, and RTMC issues the disc. We charge an admin fee for doing that part for you, and we say so on every page.
Does the RTMC deliver licence discs?
Yes. A disc renewed on NaTIS Online is posted to the address on your record by the RTMC's courier, for a delivery fee added to the bill. The same courier delivers the discs EasyNatis renews; the delivery fee is one of the four parts of our total.
